Our History

SAGREF was founded in the year 2004 by Samuel Chibueze Osuji as a young undergraduate with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Abia State University Uturu, in South- Eastern Nigeria with the desire to impact and empower young people and bring assistance to the poor of the society through medical care and material relief.

He mobilized other young undergraduates with similar persuasions like JohnPaul Ikechukwu Odigbo, Ifeoma Ulu and many others, who joined to initiate projects to inspire, motivate and engage people with various challenges and assisting them to overcome such challenges.

DOXA POINT, a brand name of the organization’s outreach talk show project was the first public programme held on February 2005 as a Talk show Conference with Abia State University Uturu as the venue. This Conference continued annually at various locations with various partners and guests. On the 9th of February 2006, its theme was ’THE INVINCIBLES’, on the 15TH day of February 2007, it was captioned ‘THE EAGLES’, and so on.

Since then, several other projects have been carried out especially on the areas of Health & Medical Mission within local communities, Community development projects, Youth Empowerment Programmes, Governance Engagement Projects and many others.

SAGREF became officially registered in Nigeria with the Co-operate Affairs Commission (CAC) on the 15th day of May 2013 as SAMSUJI GLOBAL RESCUE FOUNDATION (SAGREF) with registration number CAC/IT/NO 61214. Its structure is comprised of Board of Trustees, Advisory Board and Management.

With its main office in the city of Owerri, Imo State, SAGREF has continued to expand its network and partnership with other organizations and agencies sharing similar objectives across the globe.

Today, the teams of volunteers and partners have increased, and will continue to increase; breaking the barriers of ethnic, regional and racial divides. And creating a transformed community of caring people who are living beyond the norms!
