BIOGRAPHY
With over 15 year team leadership experience in community Aids services in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, Samuel is a multi-vocational and multi-tasked personality. He is an Optometrist, Public Health and Leadership Consultant, development expert, Life Coach and Researcher, who is trained in Civil Society Advocacy, development ethics and Strategy.
Born into the Uzoma Osuji family of Osonsiko, Ekwedim Autonomous community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria, Dr Samuel Chibueze Osuji received a doctor of Optometry (O.D) degree from Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State, and Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Federal University of Technology Owerri, where he is currently completing a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D) in Public Health with specialization in Health Promotion and Wellness. He has been a Lecturer with the department of Optometry, Madonna University Nigeria, Elele, Rivers State, for some years, and has also served as the coordinator of research with the department. His research interests focus on Public Health Optometry and Health Promotion / Wellness. As an academic, he has directed and supervised several research works in health care, with significant publications in local and international journals. He is a member of the review board of some International journals, including Acta Scientific Medical Sciences, among others.
In addition to his professional training, Dr Osuji also holds an advanced professional certificate in Industrial Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Post graduate diploma in Theology from West African Theological Seminary (WATS) Lagos affiliated to University of Nigeria Nsukka, and is an alumnus of Belhaven University, Jackson, Mississippi, USA, where he earned Masters in Ministry Leadership.
He is a member of Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN), and Nigerian Optometrists Association (NOA) where he also served as the State Public Relations Officer for Imo State some years ago. He is the Chairman Emeritus, Christian Association of Nigeria Youth Wing (YOWICAN) Imo State, and a recipient of several awards in recognition of his contributions to leadership development in Nigeria. He is also the Core Group Team Lead for Board and Strategic Leadership (BSL), a Lausanne YLGen Interest Group, with members from over 50 nations around the world.
Dr. Sam is the Founder & President of Samsuji Global Rescue (SAGRE) Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on Healthcare missions, Community Development, and Leadership/Governance initiatives, a platform where he hosts International Public Lecture on Excellent Leadership (CIAPLEL) Project. He is also the founder and Team Lead of New Life Christian Centre, Owerri Imo State, Nigeria, where he serves with his wife Favour, and they are blessed with four lovely children.
